Requirements for phlebotomist training

Phlebotomy is the process of collecting blood from veins and is also known as venipuncture. Persons working in this field are called phlebotomist. They collect venous blood from body of patient and perform different experiments to test the blood. It is very helpful for doctors to judge about different diseases. The phlebotomists are professionals who have undergone phlebotomist training and have certificate for that. Course for phlebotomist include classroom sessions and practical training.

Requirements for phlebotomist training vary from state to state. Some states require that the phlebotomist also work as health care professionals and they must get training for that but some other states may not require this. Some people having different backgrounds also go through this training to sharpen their skills and make their career as phlebotomist.

Requirements to qualify phlebotomist training are dissimilar for different countries. In California, a new phlebotomy student needs to obtain transcripts for high school graduation, 40 hours classroom instruction, 40 hours practical training and must get experience of 50 venipunctures and 10 skin puncture. Other than this, according to American society students need to complete 120 hours of practical training and 100 successful blood collections. So, the courses are different according to medical associations in different countries.
